Ingredients

4 large eggs, separated

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled

3/4 cup all-purpose flour

2 cups milk, lukewarm

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions

Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C) and line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment.

Beat egg whites to soft peaks and set aside.

Beat yolks with sugar until pale; mix in butter and vanilla.

Add flour and salt, then slowly whisk in milk.

Gently fold in egg whites, leaving streaks.

Pour batter into pan and bake 50–60 minutes until lightly golden.

Cool completely, then chill before slicing.
Notes
Chill at least 2 hours for clean slices
Store covered in fridge up to 3 days
