Description

Ingredients

  • 4 medium apples, peeled and sliced

  • 1/2 cup water or apple juice

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 12 tablespoons maple syrup or honey (optional)

  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional)


Instructions

  • Peel, core, and slice apples evenly.

  • Add apples, liquid, cinnamon, and sweetener to a saucepan.

  • Cover and cook over medium-low heat for 8–10 minutes, stirring gently.

  • Uncover and cook 3–5 minutes until liquid reduces.

  • Taste and adjust sweetness or seasoning.

  • Remove from heat and let rest before serving.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. Freeze for up to 3 months for softer uses like oatmeal. Kids love this served warm with yogurt or pancakes.
